The world’s first underwater dance performance — with an aquatic stage, immersive soundscape, and a live audience diving, snorkeling, or watching from shore beneath the Temple of Poseidon.
The performance has received unanimous approval from the Central Archaeological Council of Greece, is co-funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture and is implemented in cooperation with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades.
The performance was created for 23 first-year students of the State School of Dance and presented at the Olympia Municipal Theater / Maria Callas on January 8, 2023.
In this site-specific solo performance on the sacred island of Delos, Apostolia Papadamaki walks a mythic path of symbolic birth and ritual offering. Unprepared and alone, she gives birth to 9kg of salt. Blending mythology, political crisis, and embodied presence, the performance inscribes the female body into the timeless struggle between death, economy, and renewal.
